As is the case with most young architects attempting to establish a career in the architectural field, Nic Louw's first commissions were to renovate existing homes and eventually to design and assist in the erection of new, private residences. Not withstanding the fact that the majority of the practices current commissions are mainly commercial and industrial, we pride ourselves on still having an interest in, and being able to design, domestic housing and private houses.
We are acutely aware of the fact that a clients investment in a home will probably be the largest single investment they will make with their hard earned, "after tax" money.
We therefore believe in carrying out our clients brief to the best of our ability and believe in guiding our clients, as opposed to imposing our beliefs and "architectural egos" on them.
Not withstanding financial considerations, we believe an architect should never lose sight of the fact that a "house" should also be a "home" in which the clients will spend much of their lives, raising their families, relaxing and entertaining family and friends.
